The gate is just slightly ajar, letting visitors pass to and fro. It consists of two heavy wooden doors with metal fittings and a large crossbar of a lighter and newer piece of wood than the doors themselves. Seeing the wall up close, you can now discern that it is made of thin, tightly fitted and mortared slices of stone, a method of stonework you usually only see in very short walls. It must have taken ages to build it. To the west is the other side of the gate, but you can also continue north and south.
